The Method

CrossFit Methodology

CrossFit's approach is built on three principles: constantly varied, functional movements, performed at high intensity relative to each athlete. Simple to understand, endlessly scalable, and proven by measurable results.

The Foundation

Three Core Principles

Constantly Varied

Workouts change every day — different movements, time domains, and loads. Variety keeps your body adapting and your training interesting, with no plateaus and no boredom.

Functional Movements

We train movements your body was built for: squatting, hinging, pushing, pulling, running, and carrying. These patterns build strength that transfers directly to everyday life.

High Intensity — Relative to You

Intensity is the shortcut to results, but it's always relative. Your coach helps you find the effort level that's challenging for you today and safe for you long-term.

The Toolkit

Three Movement Categories

Every workout draws from three families of movement, blended in endless combinations.

Monostructural

Cyclical conditioning like running, rowing, biking, and jump rope — the engine-building work that improves heart and lung capacity.

Weightlifting

Barbell, dumbbell, and kettlebell work: squats, deadlifts, presses, cleans, and snatches — taught progressively with technique first, load second.

Gymnastics

Bodyweight control: pull-ups, push-ups, handstands, and core work. These build balance, coordination, and strength through full ranges of motion.

Measuring Progress

Benchmark Workouts

Named benchmark workouts repeat over time so you can retest and see exactly how far you've come. Each one scales to any level — here's how.

Fran

21-15-9 reps of thrusters and pull-ups

Scaling: Scale the load, swap pull-ups for ring rows, or trim the reps — same stimulus, your level.

Cindy

20-minute AMRAP of 5 pull-ups, 10 push-ups, 15 squats

Scaling: Band-assisted pull-ups, elevated push-ups, or a shorter clock keep it perfectly challenging.

Helen

3 rounds of a 400m run, 21 kettlebell swings, 12 pull-ups

Scaling: Lighter kettlebell, jog instead of run, jumping pull-ups — every piece adapts.

Murph

1-mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats, 1-mile run

Scaling: Partition the reps, halve the volume, or team up with a partner — everyone finishes.
